Description
Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is a novel redox cofactor found in small amounts in plant foods that activates CREB and PGC-1alpha, transcription factors that stimulate the growth of new mitochondria in a process known as mitochondrial biogenesis. This makes PQQ unique among supplements in its ability to actually increase the number of mitochondria in cells, not just support their function. It also functions as a potent antioxidant capable of cycling thousands of times without becoming depleted.
