SNAP-8, or acetyl octapeptide-3, is an eight amino acid cosmetic peptide developed as an extended version of argireline, with two additional amino acids intended to improve its activity. It is proposed to work the same way, by interfering with the signalling that triggers muscle contraction in the skin, and it carries the same topical Botox framing and the same problem with it. The evidence is limited to cosmetic testing rather than controlled clinical trials, and the effect is modest. It sits in the legitimate but oversold category: a genuine cosmetic ingredient whose marketing invites a comparison it cannot support.
