Description
Follistatin is a protein that binds and neutralises myostatin, the body's own brake on muscle growth, which makes it an obvious target for anyone interested in muscle. The genuinely impressive follistatin research is gene therapy: delivering the gene so the body produces the protein itself, tested in academic centres for muscular dystrophy. That is not what is sold as Follistatin-344. The injectable protein is a different product entirely, with no completed human trial behind it, and the gene therapy results do not transfer to it. Sustained interference with myostatin also raises real questions about effects on tendon and connective tissue, since muscle strength gained faster than supporting structures adapt is not obviously desirable.
