Description

5-Amino-1MQ is not a peptide, despite appearing in peptide catalogues. It is a small molecule that inhibits an enzyme called nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, which is more abundant in fat tissue in obesity and appears to influence how fat cells handle energy. Blocking it in mice reduced fat mass without changing how much the animals ate, which is a genuinely interesting result and the reason anyone has heard of the compound. That is where the evidence stops. It has never been administered to a human being in a published trial, no registered first-in-human study exists, and the entire consumer case for it rests on rodent metabolism.
